Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Monday while reacting to the recent statements made by Indian PM, Narendra Modi, during his visit to JK said that Kashmir is not an issue of development but an issue of denial of the right to self-determination. In a statement, the spokesperson of DeM, Rifat Fatima, said that istead of lecturing Kashmiris about development, Modi should address his people who are dying of hunger and poverty.

“ Modi should concentrate on the addressing the issues of his own country , if he does few people may get some food and shelter to live under,” she said. She said that the resistance against India is not based on the issue of power or under-development. “We believe that If Indian had not occupied us illegally, Jammu and Kashmir would have been one of the most prosperous state of Pakistan,” she added. Rifat said that the natural resources of Jammu and Kashmir is exploited and looted by India. “ Like a dacoit, India is looting our resources and shamelessly is talking to us about development. On his visit, Modi inaugurated a 330 MW hydel power project (Kishenganga) and it is one among the many resources looted by India so far,” she added. She said that the continuous loot of the resources in Jammu and Kashmir is yet another face of this illegal occupation. “ India has not right to exploit and loot our resources. The control over the waters in Kashmir can prove costly for our country (Pakistan), and is also against the Indus water Treaty and other treaties regarding the distribution of water in the region,” she added.

“ People should not infer that India is spending so much for Kashmir but should understand that it is spending on the projects which only will benefit India and not the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” she said. She further said that Modi should stop lecturing Mujahideen and should refrain from asking them to return. “Modi should understand that our Mujahideen have left behind high paid jobs and top positions in many companies and have joined this pious struggle. Mr Modi’s advice can be good for his people but every word he spoke here is a conspiracy against the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” she added. Rifat said that by Modi’s use of Kashmiri language in the beginning and the end of his speech was a cunning act and people shouldn’t pay attention to such acts.

“ Modi respected the Kashmiri language but doesn’t respect the people of Kashmir and spills their blood whenever he wants. Such things should make no difference to people of Kashmir,” she said. She added that instead of rhetorical rants, Modi should try to resolve Kashmir issue on the basis of two-nation theory and should allow the people of Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determine their own future.
